方 迪 Fang Di (b 1987)
I am a Chinese artist based in New York City and Shenzhen. My works convey not only the evolution of urbanization, but also my political attitudes. I am interested in urban practice, references to news, and view myself as a tourist in my videos and multimedia installations. My works using multiple vocabularies to investigate the intertwine in our city life, And reflect on the rapid and chaotic changes that I am involved in today’s society. It encourages the viewer to think and question.
Di’s recent project HIT ME! has been solo exhibited at Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts (Wilmington ,2013), Group shows include The Museum of Moscow (Moscow,2014), Maryland Art Place (Baltimore,2013), Connersmith Gallery (Washington D.C ,2013), Uferstraße 8 (Berlin). Di’s films have been screened at Chicago Underground Film Festival (Chicago, 2014) . His awards include Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship(2013). And had residency at Djerassi Resident Artists Program(California,2014) ,Storefront for Art and Architecture (New York ,2013). He received a BFA from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art.
